Synoptic processes of winter precipitation in the Upper Indus Basin

چکیده

Abstract. Precipitation in the Upper Indus Basin is triggered by orographic interaction and forced uplift of a cross-barrier moisture flow. Winter precipitation events are particularly active this region driven an approaching upper-troposphere western disturbance. Here statistical tools used to decompose winter time series into wind contribution. The relationship between each contribution disturbances investigated. We find that related not only intensity but also their thermal structure through baroclinic processes. Particularly, short-lived disturbance lower-altitude flow occurs due shape relief. This explains both high activity area quick decay as they move further east. revealed existence pathway from Red Sea Persian Gulf north Arabian Sea. Evaluation of gridded multi-satellite precipitation (TRMM -TMPA) estimation performance in the Upper Indus Basin (UIB)

Data with acceptable gridded resolution of daily climatic variables are critical for hydrological and water resource modeling. The gauge-based interpolation methods usually used by hydrologic models in general do not cover the spatial heterogeneity of the variability of climatic variables in a catchment. The errors in the interpolated data fields have the potential to significantly bias hydrolo...

Conflicting Signals of Climatic Change in the Upper Indus Basin

Temperature data for seven instrumental records in the Karakoram and Hindu Kush Mountains of the Upper Indus Basin (UIB) have been analyzed for seasonal and annual trends over the period 1961–2000 and compared with neighboring mountain regions and the Indian subcontinent. Strong contrasts are found between the behavior of winter and summer temperatures and between maximum and minimum temperatur...

The studying and synoptic analysis of mechanical in mechanism of widespread winter precipitation of Iran

The aim of this study was to analyze the mechanism is precipitation Comprehensive Iran. For this purpose the daily precipitation data of 483 synoptic and climatology stations arranged. In this study, a comprehensive annual rainfall is said to have a minimum rainfall and above, 50% sequence coverage and have at least two days. Winter surround Iran on the condition of rainy days were extracted an...

An appraisal of precipitation distribution in the high-altitude catchments of the Indus basin.

Scarcity of in-situ observations coupled with high orographic influences has prevented a comprehensive assessment of precipitation distribution in the high-altitude catchments of Indus basin. Available data are generally fragmented and scattered with different organizations and mostly cover the valleys. Here, we combine most of the available station data with the indirect precipitation estimate...

Estimating Probable Maximum Precipitation Based on Synoptic Method in Ghomrood Basin

Probable maximum precipitation (PMP), is the highest rainfall, which occurs at a given time in a basin. Hydrologist calculates the probable maximum flood for the design of overflow dams, by using the PMP, with two methods: statistical and synoptic. The purpose of this study is calculating PMP in the Ghomrood basin by using the synoptic method. For this purpose rain, meteorological data of the I...
